Danna Rhyne put the No. 27 machine in victory lane at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Wednesday night, taking the win from the pole in a chaotic Round 10 affair that saw 13 cautions flag 43 laps and the lead swap hands nine times across 109 circuits. Rhyne led 29 of those laps and found herself in the right place when it counted, holding off a hard-charging field to claim her fourth win of the season in the American Appalachian E-Sports ARCA Rookie Series. It was far from clean — she carried eight incidents across the distance — but results are what the standings reward, and this one delivered handsomely.
Behind Rhyne, the No. 22 of Ted Gambill delivered a composed runner-up effort, advancing five positions from his P7 starting spot to earn a podium finish in what stands as his strongest result in series competition. Gambill held just four incidents across 109 laps, one of the cleaner runs in a race that punished nearly the entire field. Rounding out the top three was Dean Barron in the No. 084, who turned in the signature performance of the evening — charging from 18th on the grid all the way to third at the checkered flag, a gain of 15 positions that earned him Hard Charger honors for the round. Barron crossed the line with six incidents on his card, a respectable number given the distance he had to travel through the pack on a night when contact was rampant.
The race was particularly brutal for several front-runners who failed to convert their starting positions into results. The No. 99 of Clay Matthews began third and finished 21st, surrendering 18 spots on the night. Landon Katz in the No. 7 started fourth and slid back 15 positions to 19th, while Lane Hartman's No. 30, which actually led 12 laps from his P6 start, wound up 18th at the flag. Tyler Starcher in the No. 12 was perhaps the race's biggest what-if — he led a race-high 58 laps from his P2 starting spot before ultimately finishing 12th, a turn of events that underscores just how brutally the New Hampshire race played out for those who spent time up front. Brandon Gordon's No. 28 crossed in fourth despite accumulating 32 incidents, matching the 32 posted by Nathan Lietzan in 13th.
With 14 rounds remaining on the schedule, Rhyne's victory has extended her advantage at the top of the standings to a commanding 201 points over second place, with Steve Casel at 429, Raymond Bell at 429, Brandon Gordon at 428, and John Cherry at 424 all separated by just five points in the fight for second. The gap between Rhyne and the rest of the top five is substantial enough that the battle below her may prove just as compelling as any race at the front — four drivers separated by five points with 14 rounds to go makes for a fiercely contested fight throughout the rest of the season.
