Round 1 of the Old Guy Racing League's Formula Vee season opened at Circuito de Navarra on Monday, and #302 Camron Frederick announced his intentions early by securing pole and never surrendering the lead across all 12 laps. With Lead Changes recorded at zero and Frederick's laps-led total matching the full race distance, this was a commanding, uncontested run to the checkered flag — his first victory in Formula Vee competition at the league level. Frederick collected 33 points and now sits atop the standings as the series heads forward, though he did not escape cleanly, picking up 5 incidents along the way.

Behind Frederick, the battle for the podium produced some meaningful shuffling. #14 David Tamira launched from P4 and muscled his way to second by the finish, gaining two spots over the course of 12 laps to secure 27 points on his series debut. #929 Uwe Hale held his P3 starting spot to round out the podium, earning 25 points despite accumulating 9 incidents in what was a physically demanding afternoon around Navarra. Both Tamira and Hale earn their first Formula Vee league podiums, setting up what looks like a genuine multi-driver battle at the front of the standings going forward.

The hard charger award belonged without question to #9 Rick Mogstad, who charged from P9 on the grid to a P5 finish — the biggest positional gain of any driver in the field at plus-4. Mogstad's 21 points in his series debut are enough to place him fifth in the standings, just 12 points behind Frederick after one round. Meanwhile, the biggest casualty of the race was #2 Andrew McMurray, who started on the front row in P2 and slid all the way back to seventh by the finish, a loss of five positions accompanied by a race-high-tying 25 incidents. #488 Kenny Craig was the race's only driver to complete all 12 laps without a single incident, though he crossed the line last and left Navarra with no points to show for his clean run.

With the first round in the books, Frederick leads the Formula Vee standings by 6 points over Tamira and 8 over Hale, with four drivers — Frederick, Tamira, Hale, and Wolfe — separated by only 10 points. Mogstad's strong debut keeps him well within striking distance in fifth. The title fight in OGRL Formula Vee is wide open, and if Round 1 at Navarra is any indication, clean laps are going to be at a premium — only one driver managed to complete the race without incident.
