P1 Finish
Mitchell Williams made it two strong results in as many rounds at Langley Speedway, steering the #16 to victory in the OGRL Old Guy Racing League Legends Series on Wednesday night. Williams, who started third, led 33 of 40 laps and took the win over #32 Mat Harvey and #74 Clark Wolfe in a race that featured seven lead changes and four cautions. The result is Williams' second win of the season, adding to his already deep résumé of nine all-time wins in this series.
Pole sitter #18 Charlie Stutzman led three laps early but ultimately fell back to fourth at the finish, a three-position drop from where he started. #99 Ron Walters also held three laps of the lead before fading to tenth. With seven lead changes across a 40-lap race, the running order was clearly fluid throughout the night — making Williams' 33-lap haul at the front all the more decisive. Mat Harvey held his starting position of second to cross the line in P2, while Clark Wolfe rounded out the podium after working up from sixth on the grid to take third.
The hard charger award belonged to #21 Jacob Carter, who charged from P11 on the grid to finish sixth, a gain of five positions on the night. Carter also ran cleanly, posting zero incidents across all 40 laps — one of only three drivers in the 12-car field to do so. #13 Jayson Hall and #23 Wyatt Collins were the other clean drivers, with Collins holding on from P12 to finish there despite his spotless run.
In the standings, Williams now sits atop the points with 120, a commanding 31-point advantage over Stutzman's 89. Wyatt Collins is third at 86 points, with Carter close behind at 84 and Hall fifth at 75. The gap between Williams and the rest of the top five means the #16 team arrives at Round 3 with a clear cushion, though with seven drivers still within reach of the top five, the battle behind Williams promises to stay tight.
