Round 4 of the Old Guy Racing League's BMW M2 season at Winton Motor Raceway produced a stunning result as #302 Camron Frederick turned a P2 starting slot into a race victory, crossing the line ahead of #9 David Tamira and #074 Ric Wishon across a clean, caution-free 17-lap affair. Frederick, who carried 8 incidents on his scorecard, nonetheless secured the win — his first in the series — edging Tamira, who was equally impressive in moving up one spot from P3 to P2 with just 2 incidents. Wishon rounded out the podium in third, also advancing one position from his P4 starting spot.

The central drama of the race centered on pole-sitter #10 Andrew McMurray, who led 16 of the 17 laps before ultimately surrendering the race lead and ultimately the win, finishing fourth. That single lead change — the only one all race — proved decisive, as Frederick found a way through where others could not, leaving McMurray to settle for 25 points and the hard lesson that pole position does not guarantee the top step at Winton. #816 Hays Boughan and #929 Uwe Hale rounded out the top six, with Hale moving up two spots from his P8 grid slot.

The hard charger honors belonged to #66 Jeff Peters, who drove from P12 on the grid to cross the line in P8, gaining 4 positions across the 17 laps. Peters finished with just 3 incidents — a composed and disciplined effort — picking up 18 championship points in the process. At the other end of the gainers and losers table, #8 James Santoyo suffered the sharpest fall of the field, dropping 9 positions from his P5 starting spot to finish 14th.

In the championship picture, Wishon still holds the points lead with 65 points after four rounds, but Frederick's victory has closed the gap considerably, with the #302 now sitting second at 61 points — just 4 behind. Tamira is third at 55 points, with Alex Bishop lurking in fourth at 53 and Hale fifth at 48, meaning five drivers are separated by just 17 points as the BMW M2 field heads to Round 5. Wins and consistency will both matter greatly if anyone is to break away from what has become a genuinely tight contest at the top of the standings.
