P1 Finish
Round 6 of the OGRL Old Guy Racing League Formula Vee series at Charlotte Motor Speedway belonged to #074 Ric Wishon, who converted a third-place starting spot into a race victory, leading 9 of 15 laps to take the checkered flag. The race featured four lead changes across its 15-lap distance, with pole-sitter #929 Uwe Hale and #14 David Tamira — who started from P2 — each holding stretches at the front before the lead ultimately went Wishon's way for good. Wishon's clean run, collecting zero incidents, stood in sharp contrast to much of the field, as only two other drivers finished with a spotless incident sheet. It was his second win of the season in the series.
Behind Wishon, #16 Rick Mogstad delivered a strong run from his sixth starting position, climbing four spots to claim his first series podium at P2, adding a single lap of race leadership to his résumé along the way. #74 Clark Wolfe completed the podium in third, having charged from P8 to round out the top three without a single incident on his record — an equally impressive effort in a race that saw incident counts pile up across the field. Uwe Hale, who had the speed to take pole, struggled with nine incidents en route to a fourth-place finish, surrendering the early advantage he held.
The hard charger award goes to #12 Nick Page, who stormed from last on the grid — P16 — all the way to P10, gaining six positions across the 15-lap race. Page's run was one of the more eye-catching performances of the afternoon, threading through a field battered by nine combined incident points of his own, though the result still represents a net positive effort from dead last. Further back, #232 Robert Sackett gained four spots from P10 to P6, while #14 David Tamira suffered the most dramatic reversal of fortune, tumbling 13 positions from P2 to P15 after what proved to be a ruinous afternoon.
With six rounds now complete, Wishon's victory has extended his points lead to 112, a 14-point cushion over Clark Wolfe in second at 98. Rick Mogstad sits just one point behind Wolfe at 97, while Uwe Hale at 95 and Andrew McMurray at 94 keep the pressure firmly on the top three. The gap between first and fifth is just 18 points, meaning Wishon holds a lead but is far from comfortable — any stumble in the rounds ahead could easily reshuffle a title fight that remains wide open across five legitimate contenders.
