Wyatt Collins put together a dominant performance at Langley Speedway on Wednesday night, driving the #23 to victory in Round 7 of the OGRL Legends Series. Starting fourth on the grid, Collins moved to the front and led 30 of 40 laps, holding off a hard-charging field through two cautions to collect 60 championship points. It was the fifth win of the season for Collins, who now stands as the clear pace-setter in the Legends standings.
Behind Collins, #16 Mitchell Williams charged from sixth on the grid to a second-place finish, taking 48 points back to his side of the garage. Williams, a nine-time winner in this series, needed every one of those points as he trails Collins by 33 in the standings following the checkered flag. Pole-sitter Ric Wishon in the #074 led the opening 8 laps before ceding the top spot to Collins — the race's only lead change — and ultimately settled for fourth, while #74 Clark Wolfe tumbled five positions from second on the grid to seventh after accumulating 10 incidents.
The performance of the night belonged to #18 Charlie Stutzman, who earned Hard Charger honors after weaving from ninth on the starting grid all the way to third at the finish — a gain of six positions. Stutzman did it cleanly, too, posting zero incidents across the 40-lap distance to collect 51 points. It was a significant result for Stutzman, who had not previously won in this series this season, and it vaults him to third in the standings at 272 points.
With seven rounds now complete, Collins' 33-point cushion over Williams makes the #23 team the driver to beat in the OGRL Legends Series, but Williams has proven he can find victory lane — his two wins this season are proof enough of that. Stutzman sits third at 272 points, just 10 ahead of a wounded Clark Wolfe at 262, with Ron Walters lurking at 257. The gap between third and fifth is razor-thin, meaning the battle for the remaining positions behind Collins is very much alive heading into the next round.
