Road America delivered a compelling Round 7 chapter in the AAES Weathertech Sportscar Championship on Sunday, with #66 Josh Rivera converting a second-place starting position into a race victory over 44 laps. Rivera, who took the lead from pole-sitter #87 Joseph Blommel, led 41 of the race's 44 laps and held on through four caution periods totaling 12 laps to claim the win. Blommel, who had started from pole, crossed the line in second, while #06 Justin Landry advanced one spot from his P4 starting position to complete the podium. Four lead changes were recorded across the field, with #46 Graham Van Ewyk accounting for 3 laps at the front before ultimately finishing fifth after dropping two spots from his P3 starting berth.
The hard charger award belonged to #420 Austin Hennigar, whose run through the field was the defining storyline of the mid-pack battle. Starting 22nd in a 27-car field, Hennigar carved his way to a 12th-place finish — a gain of 10 positions across 44 laps. It was a measured, consistent effort that stood in sharp contrast to several drivers around him who struggled with incident counts; Hennigar's 13 incidents were relatively contained given the ground he covered. The four cautions that bunched the field gave him opportunities, but sustaining those gains through clean racing over the race's full distance was the real measure of his Sunday.
Elsewhere in the results, #25 Raymond Bell was the race's biggest mover in the wrong direction, tumbling 19 positions from a P6 start to finish P25 after accumulating 35 incidents — the highest total in the field. #025 Logan Gensel collected 19 incidents of his own en route to a P4 finish, and #077 Jacob Brownell and #46 Van Ewyk both registered 21 incidents. With no driver completing the race without incident, Road America proved to be an attrition-heavy afternoon for the entire 27-car field.
In the standings, #54 Maxwell Waite remains firmly at the top on 1,275 points after his P6 result, holding a 230-point advantage over second-place Logan Gensel on 1,045. Justin Landry's podium lifts him to third on 1,020, just 25 points behind Gensel and keeping the fight for the second spot in the standings tight. Steve Pierson sits fourth at 1,010, with Joseph Blommel rounding out the top five at 975 — meaning four drivers are separated by just 70 points as the series heads into its next round. Rivera's second win of the season does not appear in the current top five, leaving him positioned as a threat outside the standings bubble rather than a front-runner in the points fight.
