Tom Ringer turned what looked like a challenging afternoon into a dominant result at Dover Motor Speedway on Thursday, taking the checkered flag in Round 7 of the RFRL Elite NextGen Series despite starting 17th in the 23-car field. The #68 machine found its way to the front through a race that featured 10 lead changes and 7 cautions over 150 laps, with Ringer logging 11 laps led on his way to the win. It is his third victory of the season and seventh all-time in the series, further cementing his status as the driver to beat in the Elite NextGen.
The story of the night nearly belonged to #9 Tiyler Walts, who led a race-high 90 laps from his P5 starting spot before ultimately settling for eighth at the finish. Walts had the pace to contend deep into the event, but the combination of late-race drama, seven cautions totaling 21 laps, and an incident-heavy field worked against him. #91 David Westergreen was another front-runner who couldn't quite close it out, leading 27 laps from his third-place starting position before finishing fourth, while #93 Colton Miller — who started second — dropped 15 spots to finish 17th after leading 11 laps himself.
Brian Sousa earned Hard Charger honors with an outstanding run in the #60, advancing 18 positions from his 20th starting spot to finish second. Sousa ran a clean race — zero incidents across 150 laps — and his second-place result marks his first podium in the series. Brandon Hinton matched that same +18 charge in the #5 car, also starting 21st and crossing the line third for his first win of the season, while Phoebe Quinones in the #12 rounded out a remarkable back-of-grid surge with a fifth-place finish, also moving forward 18 positions from her 23rd starting spot.
With 18 rounds remaining, Ringer's win pushes him to 230 points at the top of the standings and opens a six-point gap over Brandon Hinton, who sits second at 224. Tommy Wynne holds third at 207 points despite a seventh-place finish from the pole in the #74, while Colton Miller's difficult night leaves him fourth at 179 — a full 51 points adrift of the leader. The gap between Ringer and Hinton is slim enough that Thursday's Dover result may ultimately prove a pivotal swing in the points race as the series heads deeper into the season.
