Jordan Traas brought the #79 machine to victory lane at Darlington Raceway on Thursday night, earning his first win of the season in Round 8 of the Elite NextGen Series. Traas, who lined up tenth on the grid, led 77 of the 115 laps around the track they call "Too Tough to Tame," navigating two cautions and three lead changes to take the 40-point haul. It was a clean run for Traas, who crossed the line without a single incident on his scorecard — one of nine drivers in the 20-car field to do so.

Polesitter Victor Etheridge in the #6 had the front row all to himself at the drop of the green but couldn't convert, ultimately sliding all the way back to 14th by the checkered flag — a 13-position swing in the wrong direction. #94 Cole Morton, who started second and led 36 laps, also struggled with a costly 10-incident night and finished ninth. That left the door open for #71 Tommy Wynne to hold on for second from his third-place starting spot, while the night's hard charger, #5 Brandon Hinton, made the most of a 15th-place starting position to charge all the way to third — the best positional gain of the night at plus-12 spots — giving him a fully incident-free podium finish.

Hinton's run deserves a closer look. Starting deep in the field, he worked his way forward without accumulating a single incident across 115 laps at one of the most punishing tracks on the schedule. His third-place result also included 34 points, and paired with a strong night from his rivals, it pushed the standings picture into sharp relief. #60 Brian Sousa rounded out the notable movers, climbing nine spots from 14th on the grid to fifth while also putting 2 laps led on his résumé, and #12 Phoebe Quinones mirrored Traas's nine-spot gain, going from 16th to seventh with a clean sheet.

With 17 races still remaining, the Elite NextGen Series standings show a tightening contest at the top. Tom Ringer leads with 264 points after a quiet but effective fourth-place finish, with Brandon Hinton now just 5 points back at 259. Tommy Wynne sits third at 243 — 21 points off Ringer's pace — while Brian Sousa at 209 and Phoebe Quinones at 180 round out the top five. Traas's win injects a new name into the conversation, and with the field this competitive through eight rounds, the next 17 races are set up to deliver plenty of drama.
