Jordan Traas turned in one of the most striking performances of the Elite Truck Series season at Iowa Speedway on Tuesday night, wheeling the #79 truck from 21st on the grid all the way to victory lane in Round 13. In a race that saw eight lead changes across 150 laps, Traas accumulated 38 laps at the front to claim his fourth win of the season — and the hard charger award for his 20-position gain through the field. The race ran remarkably clean for a 30-truck field, with just one caution bunching the pack for four laps, but Traas needed none of that luck — he earned every position with a zero-incident run.
Up front, it was #73 John Crosby who spent the most time in the lead, pacing the field for 72 laps after starting second. Crosby ultimately had to settle for third place, unable to hold off Traas in the closing stages. #10 Jesse Gordon, who took the pole and led 26 laps, faded to fourth by the checkered flag — a difficult night for the points runner-up who will feel the sting of starting on the front row and finishing behind three trucks. #85 Dakota Reeder, who led three laps during his stint, came home second for a strong result in what was a multi-truck battle for the podium throughout the evening.
The hard charger story doesn't end with the winner. #68 Tom Ringer advanced 17 positions from 22nd to fifth, while #7's Brandon Hinton climbed 20 spots from 27th to seventh. #54 David McConnell gained 16 positions from 24th to eighth, and #60 Brian Sousa moved up 15 spots from 26th to 11th. Among those who struggled, #9 Tiyler Walts fell 16 positions from third to 19th despite leading 11 laps early, and #97 Anthony Burleyson dropped 21 places from eighth to 29th — the steepest fall of the night.
In the standings, Traas's victory stretches his lead to 38 points over Jesse Gordon, who sits second with 372 points. Paul White holds third at 328 points, with Dakota Reeder four points behind in fourth at 320. Brandon Hinton's seventh-place finish helped him maintain fifth at 294 points. With seven races remaining, the gap between Traas and Gordon is meaningful but far from decisive — Gordon will need to start converting his front-row speed into wins rather than fourth-place finishes if he intends to close that deficit.
