P1 Finish
Mitchell Williams delivered a commanding performance at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday, piloting the #54 entry to victory in Round 16 of the ATC O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. Williams, who started fourth, led 63 of 90 laps in a caution-free race that saw six lead changes across the 18-car field. It was his sixth win of the season and ninth all-time in the series — a remarkable statement of pace at a venue that separated the contenders from the pretenders on a green-flag-only afternoon.
Pole sitter #80 Noah Blackwell showed early promise, leading 19 laps from the front row before ultimately fading to an eighth-place finish — a seven-position slide from where he started. #99 Austin Coop ran a disciplined race from his P2 starting spot, even leading one lap, and held on for a runner-up finish. It was a result worth noting for Coop, whose prior win total entering the event stood at zero in the series. Behind him, #29 Judson Curtis rounded out the podium in third after starting seventh, while #81 Andrew Marsh slipped two spots from his third-place starting position to finish fifth.
The hard charger award went to Judson Curtis, whose four-position gain from P7 to P3 was the race's best position swing among the finishers — a clean run with zero incidents that earned Curtis his place on the podium. Curtis now carries four wins on his series record, and his performance Sunday added further intrigue to the mid-pack competition. #10 Mark Syphers also deserves mention, gaining four spots from P14 to finish tenth, doing so without a single incident alongside nine other clean drivers in a field that ran the full distance without a caution flag waved.
In the playoff standings, Williams now sits atop the points table with 226, extending a significant gap over Andrew Marsh's 205. Marsh's fifth-place result at Homestead puts him 21 points behind Williams, a deficit that will grow more difficult to close if Williams continues at his current pace. Larry Millard sits third with 172 points, while Justin Frazier and Sean Timothy round out the top five at 152 and 146 respectively — both within striking distance of each other but needing results to close the gap on the top two.
