Jordan Traas claimed his first Late Model Series victory at Richmond Raceway on Saturday night, converting his pole position into 40 championship points in the 80-lap feature. The #79 driver led 14 laps during a race that featured four lead changes and was slowed by two cautions for eight total laps. Jonathan Burt delivered a strong runner-up performance in the #11 car, advancing two positions from his fourth-place starting spot to earn 35 points, while Tom Ringer completed the podium in third place.
Ringer emerged as the race's hard charger, gaining three positions from his sixth-place grid spot to finish third in the #68 machine. The driver, who entered the weekend with two wins already this season, led a race-high 29 laps despite accumulating two incidents during the 80-lap contest. His 34-point haul proved crucial in the championship battle, as he moved closer to the series leaders with seven races remaining on the schedule.
The race proved costly for several championship contenders, most notably David McConnell in the #74 car, who plummeted seven positions from third on the grid to finish tenth. McConnell had led 33 laps during the event but was hampered by four incidents that dropped him well down the running order. Robert Walton also struggled relative to expectations, falling two spots from his front-row starting position to fourth place, though he managed to lead four laps and collected 33 points.
Despite his fourth-place finish, Walton maintained his championship lead with 171 points, extending his margin over second-place Marc Holloway to 11 points. Holloway finished eighth after starting eighth, earning 29 points to reach 160 total. Ringer's podium performance moved him to third in the standings with 144 points, while Burt's strong second-place result catapulted him into fourth place with 127 points, displacing Todd Parent who did not compete in this round.
