Dover Motor Speedway

Jordan Traas turned what looked like a difficult afternoon into a dominant result at Dover Motor Speedway on Friday, charging from 13th on the grid to take the victory in Round 9 of the RFRL Godsby ARCA Series. The #79 machine navigated a 150-lap race that featured seven lead changes and just one caution over three laps, with Traas ultimately leading 37 laps on his way to the win — his third of the season in this series.

The race's most intriguing storyline before the checkered flag may have belonged to #6 Victor Etheridge, who led a race-high 59 laps after starting from the outside front row. Etheridge held off pressure for stretches of the race and looked capable of delivering what would have been his first win in the series, but Traas ultimately cleared him before the finish, leaving the #6 team with a runner-up result that nonetheless represents a strong showing. #73 John Crosby rounded out the podium in third after starting P3, adding 7 laps led to his afternoon's work. Up front early, polesitter Kyre Mullaney in the #02 lost seven spots across 150 laps to finish eighth, while #11 Jonathan Burt led 44 laps from his P5 starting spot before fading to tenth — a costly result given his position atop the standings.

The hard charger performance from Traas was the defining story of the race. Starting 13th among 17 cars, he gained 12 positions across a race with only three caution laps, meaning the vast majority of that progress came on raw pace on a track as unforgiving as Dover. #60 Brian Sousa also delivered a strong run, advancing 11 spots from P15 to P4 with a clean race — zero incidents — which does significant work for his standing in the points battle.

With 15 races still remaining in the season, the standings have tightened into a genuine four-driver fight. Jonathan Burt holds the points lead at 301, but his tenth-place finish at Dover has allowed the field to close in — Brian Sousa sits second at 265, Traas moves to third at 264 after his victory, and John Crosby is just four points further back at 260. David Burcicki rounds out the top five at 251, keeping the pressure broad. Burt's lead is real but no longer comfortable, and the results from Dover have set up what promises to be a closely contested second half of the season.
