Round 10 of the RFRL Godsby ARCA Series at Nashville Superspeedway produced one of the more surprising results of the season, with #73 John Crosby taking the victory from 13th on the grid. Crosby, who entered the race having already secured two wins on the season, needed just 11 of the race's 135 laps at the front to seal the result, a testament to the timing and execution of his run through the field. Pole-sitter #02 Kyre Mullaney led a commanding 69 laps and looked every bit the favorite for much of the afternoon, while #00 Zachary Lovelace was equally present at the front, leading 48 laps and running a clean race with zero incidents from his third-place starting spot. The 10 lead changes across 135 laps told the story of a race that was never settled until the final accounting.
The podium finish for Mullaney was a hard result to swallow given the dominance he showed throughout the race. He led more laps than any other driver in the field, yet crossed the line second without a prior win to his name in the series. Lovelace was similarly strong and equally without a series win on his record, finishing third after starting third and running an incident-free race. #57 Robert Walton rounded out a strong top four after starting 14th, picking up 10 positions despite accumulating four incidents. #60 Brian Sousa quietly turned in one of the day's cleaner performances, advancing 11 spots from 16th to fifth without a single incident on his card.
The hard charger award belonged without question to #76 Cameron Gulley, who started at the back of the 19-car field from 19th and charged to sixth by the checkered flag — a gain of 13 positions. Gulley did it the right way, too, finishing with zero incidents across the full 135-lap distance at Nashville. It was a drive that could easily have gone unnoticed given the drama at the front, but a 13-place charge without so much as a single incident marker is a performance worth marking. #09 Jonathan McIntosh and #38 Hayden Malcolm also made positive moves through the field, though neither quite matched Gulley's charge.
With 14 rounds remaining in the season, the standings paint a complicated picture for John Crosby heading out of Nashville. Despite winning today's race, Crosby sits second in points at 278, trailing series leader #11 Jonathan Burt — who finished a disappointing 19th at Nashville — by 23 points. Burt holds 301 points at the top of the table, but a last-place finish like today keeps the door open for Crosby and the chasing pack. #60 Brian Sousa's fifth-place run has him third in points at 270, just eight back of Crosby, with Jordan Traas at 264 and #92 David Burcicki at 255 completing a tightly-bunched top five. With the gap this small this deep in the season, a single race swing can reshape the entire order.
